UK to "burn 15 billion loaves of bread" a year for bioenergy
The Government’s Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is currently consulting on the subsidies it needs to put in place to support Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) from 2027-2050 Growing enough energy crops to make this work would require around 1.3 million hectares of UK land every year that is needed for food production.
